INTO THE NIGHT

24 of 27th

για τον Π, στα γενέθλιά του

woke up to the earnest clock
to another day's half solid block
-but this day specially honoured

belongs to a man
who lived as possibly afar
and in the right night
invoked death and the Star, as well his sight
-with all his tattered might

i remember him in supernovas.

I tread carefully though on making rhymes
for the living and the dead
I am weary of my times
who made these two into one:
revealing the truth
of death and youth
to one
another
- one, both mine

inclined, or forced
i write of things unseen
when i open my mouth
they will come out
call it a calling or bare it a burden
-it's what i do for what it's worth:
i wait no heaven
the sun leads me the night lulls me
continuously to places unknown:
i thank them both and look away
connecting them at dusk and dawn
eyes closed - yet wide open
to what comes and goes where shadows sway

 never go astray
from the straight and narrow
-the devil made an offer:
i turned it down somehow

and now?

again like an arrow
splendidly aimed
towards the invisible mark
perfectly aware
of its ark
hoping speeding
-just to get there
well before the all encompassing dark
